An NFL grant of roughly $500 will be used to buy flag football equipment for Black River Middle School students.
Physical education teacher Tyler Dennis, who also serves as varsity football and middle school track coach, applied for the money through the Fuel Up to Play 60 program with the goal of implementing a flag football unit in his classes.
Black River received 10 footballs, 50 flag belt sets, three kicking tees, and a middle school flag football curriculum.
Sponsored by the National Dairy Council, state and regional dairy councils, and other supporting organizations, the Fuel Up to Play 60 funding program provides money to encourage healthy changes.
“Thank you to the NFL’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program for granting Tyler Dennis and Black River Middle School students the equipment they need to play flag football,” said superintendent Chris Clark. “We strive to promote student wellness across the district, and this funding will certainly allow us to continue our efforts.”
