Driving an International box truck the afternoon of Aug. 8 on Rt. 2 near the Middle Ridge Road exit, Eckenrode was part of a massive crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

He is accused of rear-ending a Jeep, pushing it into a Chevy Silverado and killing12-year-old Mackenzi Lansberry of Sheffield.

Eckenrode was uninjured.

However, he was given a field sobriety test at the crash site and from the outset, state troopers said drug use was suspected.
